Growing Need for Data Security

The use of non-European cloud providers is under intense scrutiny within the EU. U.S. laws, such as the CLOUD Act, require companies to hand over data to the U.S. government even if it is stored in Europe, without needing to provide any justification. This poses a major challenge for data security and, consequently, compliance with European privacy regulations.

To address this, SecuMailer is developing an innovative solution called Data Haven. This technology enables secure, temporary storage of email traffic within client environments. Emails are stored and protected without the need for permanent servers, offering a fully European alternative to U.S. cloud technology. This allows organizations to reduce dependence on non-European providers and retain full control over their data within Europe.

EFRO – Kansen voor West III

SecuMailer’s primary goal is to ensure digital sovereignty in email transmission and retrieval. The Data Haven project aligns perfectly with the Kansen voor West III program, contributing to the enhancement of research and innovation capacity in Flevoland, with a special focus on Cybersecurity. It also aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the West Netherlands region.

Collaboration with Ugoo

Shortly after initial contact, the Data Haven project was discussed, and action was quickly taken when Ugoo identified the funding opportunity within the Kansen voor West III program. The application process was efficient, and the subsidy was approved in one go without substantive questions, allowing SecuMailer to start the project immediately.

A few months later, the WBSO was successfully arranged, and Ugoo continues to explore additional funding opportunities. The partnership between Ugoo and SecuMailer is a prime example of how a strong subsidy strategy can support both the development of an innovative product and the growth of a company.
