From Medical Image Analysis to Project Funding
My background is in biomedical technology and medical engineering, with a specialisation in medical image analysis. At Erasmus MC, I developed models using deep learning, a form of AI, for applications in medical imaging. This experience allows me to quickly understand complex technical and programming-related challenges and translate them into practical solutions.
I have now been working at Ugoo for almost six years as a Managing Consultant ProReg. In this role, I am responsible for project funding schemes at Ugoo, which require a high degree of innovation as well as social relevance. Examples include a low-carbon factory for producing animal-free protein and the early detection of breast and lung cancer. For each company, I assess which project funding schemes are promising and put together an internal writing team with the right expertise in both the industry and the funding scheme.

My view on funding
From initial conversations, it often becomes clear that entrepreneurs want to target the largest European funding programmes, while there are suitable alternatives with a much higher chance of success and a similar funding amount. This is a misconception that can cost valuable time and potential.
With my background and extensive experience with major funding programmes, I can quickly assess which scheme best fits a specific project. By making the right match, aligning everything effectively and proactively sharing opportunities with clients, we help ensure they don’t miss out on funding opportunities and choose the path with the highest chance of success.
Technical expertise
For RESi, I supported a TSE application focused on validating the technical feasibility of a polysilicon plant in the Netherlands. A complex project that required in-depth technical knowledge and a well-structured funding application.
