I support innovative technology companies in securing grants and external financing, with a focus on WBSO, the Innovation Box, EIA, MIA/VAMIL, DEI+ and ERDF. With sixteen years of experience at Ugoo and a background as an R&D engineer, I combine in-depth technical expertise with practical knowledge of tax legislation and regulations. From R&D Engineer to Director at Ugoo

I started my career as an R&D Engineer, working on innovative access solutions, including revolving doors. That hands-on experience with technical development still forms the basis of how I approach funding projects today.

I then moved into a role as an Innovation Consultant for R&D teams, where I supported a wide range of companies, including AkzoNobel, Fokker, FrieslandCampina and Shell. I helped these organisations with innovative and technical challenges, while further developing my knowledge of mechanical engineering and materials science, as well as software and electronics development.

I have now been working at Ugoo for more than sixteen years as a Consultant Innovation & Finance. In this role, I support innovative technology companies in securing grants and external financing, translating complex innovations into concrete financial opportunities. As Co-Director, I am also responsible for Ugoo’s financial and operational management.

Benny's Vision
A streamlined process backed by expertise in both technology and legislation.

My view on funding

In initial conversations, I regularly hear three statements. “We’ve been applying for WBSO for years with our regular advisor, and we really have it covered.” “We don’t claim costs and expenses for WBSO because the administration is far too complex.” And: “Our accountant has looked at the Innovation Box before, but it’s not for us.” In practice, all three assumptions rarely turn out to be entirely correct.

My approach is straightforward and specific: a streamlined process, backed by in-depth knowledge of both technology and legislation. By understanding both sides, rather than just one, there is often room to make better use of the same funding process or add schemes that were previously overlooked.

Periodic Monitoring

For a client, I manage the periodic monitoring of investment budgets and provide extensive support to the various business units. The result: regular EIA applications and approvals, with a streamlined process that requires very little time from the client itself.
